Five Dollar Friday*: Caragh

It’s difficult to explain my love for Caragh and her take on the world. I’ve been following this lady’s blog since day one, and her posts never do less than make me feel better in general about life. How can you quantify something like that?

She’s funny; no matter what, Caragh is always funny. She is funny when she gets at the sad stuff, she never takes herself too seriously, and she has made me cry but never left me bummed. She gets real, and girl also lets herself get mad unreal, but she’s always Caragh and you’d never mistake her for just a rabid SVU fan; she’s a lot more, she has the blog equivalent of stage presence. She’s one to watch. She’s got a perfect way of encapsulating how ridiculous life is, how a good person who doesn’t bemoan everything rolls with the punches, and how TI and weed are the staples of a happy existence. One day I hope to read Caragh’s memoirs, about growing up down the street from a prison, about her time working in a pet store, and about what she has bought at CVS.

Today was also kinda like that day a blind dude asked me what my dog looked like and I accidentally offered to show him a picture. As I was digging out the phone this dude, be-caned and be-sunglassed said, “Sweetie, I’m blind.” I said “Oh” and then mouthed “Fuck.”
