Florz n' Faunz
El Matador State Beach is up past Zuma. I don’t consider myself a particularly beachy person, but this particular stretch of sand and rocks is special to me. Things that make a beach special: caves, starfish, a paucity of yuppies with umbrellas and rules, and the occasional group of gang members playing a lovely game of Frisbee.
You can touch them.

Johnny Rockets heightens my emotions.
I find it sad to be in a diner planted with a chuckle in the folds of yesteryear. I find nostalgia for the 1940’s to be sort of confusing: things were pretty stressful back then, for women and black people, for Jews. People ate canned chili. Molly was our American Girl.

My parents have bees.
They noticed swarms around the wood pile, wood my dad has been splitting for 20 years, and thought wasps.
